ABOUT
ABOUT US AND OUR CAMPAIGN
We came together as a group of families who have had car thieves and death drivers visit their horror upon us, we realised that it is the same people, a minority group, who have repeatedly stolen cars, driven through our areas, been involved in murdering our loved ones and when released on bail or after a short sentence, go out in many cases and do it all over again.
We have buried our loved ones and sat through the trials, but this continues to happen to other families and brings our own tragedies back to us, again and again.
Our future hopes are, that the threat of a long sentence ,will deter many people from getting involved in these crimes.
We would also like to see a multi-agency task force set up, with the primary objective of tackling car crime in areas most affected, That would be carried out in consultation with, and according to, the needs of local communities.
Education and library boards should review current youth provision, to take account of the changing needs of young people in today's society.
We believe that a curriculum based, schools' campaign, should be implemented, highlighting the devastating consequences of car crime and that adequate resources should be allocated to communities most affected by car-crime, aimed at diversionary or preventative youth work.
